Bastei is a spectacular rock formation of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, a low mountain range on the border between the Czech Republic and Germany, crossed by the river Elbe (over one thousand kilometres) which is one of the longest rivers in Europe. Bastei is located inside the Saxon park in Switzerland and it has always been a destination for mountain lovers.
These rock formations, which at this point are touching the two hundred feet high, for hundreds of years, are known for the spectacular views that offer to the visitors. Already in 1824 they built a wooden bridge, to facilitate the tourists, which was replaced in 1851 by this stone structure, known as the Bridge Bastei, in fact one of the most visited places from the side of the Saxon Switzerland.
The Bastei Bridge in Saxony is located not far from the fortress of Konigstein, also known as the Bastille Saxon, located 40 kilometers south of Dresden and 150 km north of Prague.
