In the race in which many countries are shipped, to build the tallest skyscraper in the world, China has taken another step forward with the construction of the World Financial Center in Shanghai, skyscraper which was opened in August 2008 and that on my trip to that city I could not visit it as it was under construction. It is located in the financial district of Pudong, practically glued to the Jinmao Tower which until the opening of the new skyscraper was the highest in China and the third world. The World Financial Center is now the tallest building in China, and the total height of the structure the tallest skyscraper in the world.
The World Financial Center skyscraper has a total height of 492 meters and 101 floors. Between 79 and 93 floors lies the Hotel Park Hyatt Shanghai which exceeded in height the hotel of the same chain that is found in the neighboring Jinmao Tower. Construction began in 1997 with the goal of being completed in 2007 but construction was affected by the Asian financial crisis of earlier this century. Originally scheduled to have a height of 460 meters and 94 floors but during the time of its construction it was decided to raise its height. It even suffered a small fire in August 2007.
The Shanghai World Financial Centers are three different panoramic viewpoints on floors 94, 97 and 100. They can be accessed by paying an entry price ranging from 100 to 150 CNY according to the viewpoints to which you access.
