The natural park of Kamenjak is located exactly on the southern tip of the triangle which is the territory of Istria. The entrance is via the Premantura about 10 km from the capital Pula near Medulin. This area became a protected area since 1996 and is composed of a narrow peninsula between 500 and 1600 meters wide and almost 3 km and a half long. It is entirely covered by a dirt road in the middle from which then trails and minor roads that lead to the sea on which stands a jagged coastline with numerous bays and inlets. Watching the sea from various points you can glimpse islands all uninhabited but also with some interesting historical levels (on one there were found even dinosaur footprints!).
If you love nature you are definitely in the right place. There are many floristically interesting and marine protected areas. Bays where you can stop for a day of peace are thirty which can be accessed by following the signs along the paths. If you have a specific destination we advice you to seek a detailed map before entering. What’s on the flyer at the entrance is very approximate. You might not be able to come back twice in the same place! The choice of points where you can stop for swimming and sunbathing are endless and all offer high impact and charm. The white cliffs plunge directly into crystal clear water. You will not find beaches but only rocks which are so difficult and inconvenient but the beauty that will be presented in front of you will make you forget that too!
You can access the park by car if you pay 35 kuna (less than € 5) or free walking and cycling. Know that your car will come out covered completely in breaded dust but I assure you it is worth it. It is important to remember to bring some food from home. For those who want to enjoy a romantic night surrounded by nature and close contact with the sea there is the opportunity to sleep in the lighthouse on the island of Porer just 30 minutes from the coast of the park Kamenjak and the price is also low cost! For a bed in a apartment the cost starts at less than € 18, a head to which € 100 must be added for transport.
