For anyone who loves to be active during their summer holidays, there are plenty of water activities in Turkey to choose from, and Kusadasi’s famous Long Beach and Pamucak Beach offer a wealth of activities to choose from. If you are looking for luxury spa resorts, Turkey has a wide selection, and CLC World Resorts & Hotels have two beautiful resorts on the Aegean coast, offering stunning accommodation, fine cuisine and a range of indulgent spa activities.
Let’s take a look at all the activities you can choose from to make yours a perfect Turkey water sports holiday:
There are several dive centres in Kusadasi, which offer training courses, year-round diving and diving for certified divers. Among the best dive sites are various reefs and caves, and the wreck of an Airbus A300, deliberately sunk to a depth of 17 metres near the port of Kusadasi. If you’re not ready to take a diving certificate, don’t worry, there are plenty of snorkelling opportunities too.
Ideal for thrill-seekers, Turkey has many mountains and rivers, and from Kusadasi and Didim there are daily white water rafting and canoeing tours available that pass through remote farmlands, villages, orchards and castle ruins – it’s a great way to see parts of the country that are otherwise inaccessible.
With so many lakes and rivers, and of course, the Aegean itself, there are all kinds of kayaking or canoeing tours in Turkey, particularly around Kusadasi and Didim. Many organised tours will take you through stunning scenery and include authentic lunch stops provided by local farmers.
When in Turkey, water sports holidays wouldn’t be the same without windsurfing, which is possible at many centres at either Long or Pamucak Beaches. Courses are available for children or beginners, either in small groups or privately.
Skiing and Boarding
There are so many water activities in Turkey to choose from, and the Aegean coast offers the lot – with water-skiing, mono-skiing, wake-boarding, fly-boarding and knee-boarding courses all taught by professional instructors.
In case you didn’t know, knee-boarding blends the principles of surfing, water-skiing and wake-boarding, while fly-boarding involves being jettisoned up to 15 metres from your board by pressurised water, and is definitely one for thrill-seekers!
While parasailing looks dramatic, it’s actually one of the safest water-sports, and really more of a fun sightseeing ride at 150-200 metres above the sea, including a wonderful sense of peace, and of course magnificent views.
All Types of Boating Adventures
All types of boating adventures are possible during a Turkey water sports holiday – such as scenic boat tours around the Aegean coastline, speed boat tours, sailing and guided Catamaran Tours run by professional instructors. Try a Laser Pico, a small boat that’s ideal for family sailing, or hire an inflatable Banana boat. For a gentle trip, you could take a pedal boat ride, and for more speed, there are always jet-skis.
When it comes to water activities in Turkey, you really will be spoiled for choice!
