Where to Find Luxurious Accommodations in Greenland

Tourism in Greenland is not widely marketed, and you might be wondering if luxury accommodations are available there. Interestingly enough, there are luxury hotels in Greenland where you can both enjoy the beauty of the Arctic and the comforts of a top-notch accommodation.

Hotel Angmagssalik

Hotel Angmagssalik is the most-established and well-known tourist hotel in Greenland. Situated in a picturesque Greenland landscape, this hotel has been the second home to many travelers since December 1973.

Amenities include 40 bedrooms (with shower, wifi, satellite TV and telephone), bar & restaurant, coffee lounge, TV room, terrace, souvenir shop, excursion and tour services, winter sports equipment, camping equipment, in-house ticketing office, mini conference room and transfer service. Daily accommodation rates start at $110 (economy room) to $275 (triple room).

Hotel Arctic

Hotel Arctic boasts of offering the finest Northern accommodation. It is situated in the heart of the city, very near the airport, government offices, establishments, banks and restaurants. Standard rooms are fitted with large beds, satellite TVs, wifi, personal refs and microwaves. Suites offer the addition of mini kitchenettes and separate living rooms.

The hotel also provides a fitness center, seafood and steak restaurant, large meeting room, transport services, pub and gift shop. Room rates start at $224 per night (promo).

Hotel Maniitsoq

Hotel Maniitsoq is a seafront hotel, and offers a panoramic view of the harbor, the Davis Strait, and the nearby islands flocked by whales in summer. The hotel provides 21 twin rooms equipped at $280 a night with modern amenities such as shower, toilet, telephone, flatscreen TV with satellite channels and wifi, among others.

The hotel also has conference room and restaurant. An adjacent hotel, Toppen Garni, offers single rooms at $230 per night.

Hotel Hans Egede

This four-star hotel in Nuuk might not sound luxurious enough, but it’s actually the largest in all of Greenland with 140 rooms and 10 apartments. The hotel also a conference area, two restaurants, and rooftop bar. Basic room amenities include TV, radio, telephone, wifi, ironing/press, and mini bar.

Room rates start at $196 (budget) to $560 (suite). Apartments are fitted with private kitchen, bathroom and washing facilities, and are priced at $213 (50 sqm) to $802 (180sqm) for 3 whole days (minimum rental period).

Hotel Sisimiut

Hotel Sisimiut is a 3-star hotel situated in the outskirts of Sisimiut in Greenland. It is notable for its conference room, restaurant and bar. It has 40 rooms with rates that range from $208 (single) to $330 (hotel apartment). The hotel offers excursions and tours including hiking, Inuit culture, guided sightseeing, fishing, boating and dog sledding.
