While most of your time may be taken up by skiing and boarding on the mountains of Borovets, don’t think that that’s all that your holiday can include. You may be surprised to know that there’s a whole host of fun activities to enjoy in and around Borovets, with most being easily accessible from the resort centre.
Head to Samokov in the centre and you will find an impressive bowling alley on offer – perfect if you want to while away a couple of hours hoping to avoid the splits and gain the turkeys. Ideal if you have children to entertain, bowling is bound to be a winner. Within the same building is an impressive swimming pool too, which you can use during your stay if you so wish. Just make sure you pack your cozzie!
A huge hit for all ages, bumboarding is a great way to enjoy the mountain away from the skis and snowboards. You can also hire or buy sledges in the area, while the inner tubes of tyres are also incredibly popular as a method to whizz down the mountain. In many cases, once you’re done with your sledge, you can sell it back to the shop that you bought it from – you won’t get the same price you paid, but every little helps!
Climb aboard a ski-doo and snow mobile through the snowy wilderness, meandering through forests and creating powder everywhere you go. Make sure you take the time to watch the weekly ski show that is presented by the professional ski tutors. Spectators are dazzled as they show off their synchronised moves and tricks – something well worth watching as part of your stay in Borovets. The winter 2013/4 season is an ideal time to head to Bulgaria. With authenticity and charm, her resorts offer visitors something really special, without the hefty price tag.
