It started on Friday the 30th of November, and will run until the 24th of December, the Christmas market in Nuremberg, the German Christmas Market (the market for baby Jesus), one of the most distinctive Christmas events in Bavaria (do not miss the Christmas Market in Regensburg).
The market is held in Nürnberg in Hauptmarkt, the central market square, dominated by the Gothic Frauenkirche, Church of Our Lady, where they crowd the stalls in the traditional Christmas colors, including antique decorations, wooden statues, hand-painted decorations hanged on the door or windows, fragrant Christmas sweets, such as Lebkuchen, marzipan and spicy sweets and benches where you need the excellent glühwein (the “local” mulled wine).
Then you have to have a look at the square, near the Schöner Brunnen, the Beautiful Fountain, the tourist office, if you stop for a few days in the city. Waiting for April next year, when Ryanair will open flights from Nuremberg to Pisa and Cagliari, for now, the alternative is to land at the new airport of Munich of Bavaria, and Monaco, take the train to Nuremberg (to save some money take Bayernticket, a ticket that allows you to travel on regional costs).
