Spring in Kyoto, Japan

The photo below from switchstyle resumes Yasaka temple in Japan during this period that is when the cherry trees are in bloom. Normally, the Shinto shrine, built in the ninth century, in addition to being a place of worship for believers it is a major attraction in Kyoto. When the cherry trees are in bloom, it becomes simply the park entrance of Maruyama which is very popular by these parts, where the locals go to Kyoto in order to admire the flowering trees and the fresh air to celebrate spring.

The main attraction is a big cherry “weeping”, which is located in the center of the park and during the first week of April it is decorated and lit all night, then under which people meet for socializing, eating and drinking.
