A true work of art that celebrates the design and futurism the Silken Puerta America in Madrid, it is no coincidence that constantly voted by guests as one of the most unusual hotels in the world. The 12 floors, are all different from each other, after they have designed 19 different architectural firms, making it very difficult to choose one to choose room. Many of them are world renowned architects such as Norman Foster, Jean Nouvel and Zaha Hadid. Some floors are real anthems in style, while other customers request a room change because it is impossible to find out where the lights!
Each floor is a revelation, since every time you feel like you are transported to a completely different worlds, from futuristic red plastic in black marble or traditional leather and wood. The facade is covered by a rainbow of plastic panels, which is actually a clever system of screens windows, forming the light entering the building. When the opening screen reveal phrases from the poem by Paul Éluard titled Freedom, which is written in about as many languages as there are designers.
It has 308 standard rooms, 22 junior suites and 12 suites. Inside they not followed the classic rules or obey everything in functionality. The sleek leather rooms Norman Foster compact and luxurious, but with a place for everything. The round beds Ron Arad may not fit. The two rooms of Zaha Hadid are uniquely dominated by white.
The hotel’s restaurant serves modern versions of traditional Spanish dishes. There is also a terrace, garden and a rooftop bar with great views of Madrid. It features an indoor pool and a steam room.
The Puerta América is located in Avenida de América, 5 minute walk from the fashionable district of Salamanca. The Paseo de la Castellana and the Bernabeu football stadium are 30 minutes away on foot.
