For us moviegoers and fans of the west, the visit to Monument Valley during our weird trip to the west coast of the United States becomes a mythical stage. Most importantly, it does not disappoint. One film cinema icon of the West is Fort Apache where we meet two myths, director John Ford and actor John Wayne. What’s curious about this is that much of the film was shot in Fort Apache of Monument Valley.
The excitement does not stop being produced when we realize upon arrival at Monument Valley and peek into the gazebo next to the Visitor Center and Hotel View that the best known action scenes were shot right at the foot of the gazebo. The landscape before us with the specific situation of the famous high plateaus brings us to remember these scenes which we can then check anew by viewing them again.
Yes, although the movie Fort Apache was shot in these places which border between Utah and Arizona, the real remains of Fort Apache is located southeast of Arizona as part of the Centre and Apache Cultural Museum site that you can visit from Sedona or from Phoenix.
